Recently Holy Trinity monastery’s rent in Mexico City has been DOUBLED. Again. Illegally. In a private conversation Abbot Archimandrite Nektariy shared that he doesn’t know how he will go on.

This case is a matter of life and death. Both for Fr. Nektariy and the ROCOR mission he heads in Mexico City.

Two years ago I wrote to you saying that the Holy Trinity monastery in Mexico City was about to close its doors. But the great generosity of people like you allowed Fr Nektariy to continue with his amazing work.

In the last 9 years Fr Nektariy has:

  • fully restored a crumbling building and created a monastery
  • established a growing ROCOR mission in the center of Mexico City
  • helped countless new immigrants from the ex-Soviet Union to find jobs
  • saved dozens of abused women and children from domestic abuse
  • saved dozens of victims of sex trafficking
Fr. Nektariy works 21 hours a day 7 days a week to keep the monastery open for his parishioners.

This man works 14 hours a day 5 days a week - outside the monastery - to make money for rent. On top of that he has to do all his priestly and monastic duties: counseling, confessing, visiting the sick, answering calls, emails and texts… Oh, and literally saving lives – of women and children. He has been threatened many times by men whose abused wives he has saved.

This comes down to 21 hours a day - year round - helping people in need. Fr Nektariy hasn’t had a day off in at least seven years.

Over the years his health has severely deteriorated. He is in constant pain. Yet, while he takes care of so many, he has no time to spare on himself.

Only after seven years of knowing him did I find out that Fr Nektariy is in constant and very real danger from the Mexican mob because he has been involved in saving victims of sex trafficking.

Will you join me in standing with Fr Nektariy?

Or are we as a ROCOR body will allow a mission to collapse for lack of the very thing you can provide – funds?

Not funds to keep someone living in a house, or provide them with comforts, but keeping a monastery open so that Fr Nektariy can keep on saving people’s lives. So that he can fulfill Christ’s commandment: “Go into the world and preach the Gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).

We are hoping to collect $70,000 by October 1. It sounds like a very large sum, but we have done it in the past, and I know we can again.

If everyone on our mailing list gave just $60, Fr Nektariy would be in the clear.

There is hope. And Fr Nektariy’s hope is you. Please, will you help him?

 With love in Christ,

P.S. This might sound controversial, but … what if Fr Nektariy is the next St. John of Shanghai and we don’t do anything to help him in his hour of need?

P.P.S. In return for $1,000 or more Fr Nektariy will send you an icon hand-made at the monastery icon studio or another gift you can choose on the reply device. Please help Fr Nektariy today!
