When the armed conflict started in the Ukraine, thousands of people lost their homes, property, and livelihood. Thousands fled Southeastern Ukraine for the small town of Svytogorsk (Eastern Ukraine) with a population of only 3,500. The small town of Svyatogorsk (“Holy Mountain”)is a great spiritual center of Donbass thanks to the presence of the Holy Dormition Lavra.
